Rotolo’s Sponsors Race of the Dead

Rotolo’s Pizzeria sponsored the RACE of the DEAD event for its second year! The RACE of the DEAD is a single-speed mountain bike race held in the Bonnet Carre’ Spillway the weekend before Halloween. This race is one fundraiser that NOMAMBO (New Orleans Metro Area Mountain Bike Organization) holds to raise money to help build and maintain the Spillway Mountain Bike Trail System. The trail system consist of 5 miles trail through the spillway swamp. Below is a letter from the crew:

2011 RACE of the DEAD is in the books.. WOW… We are excited and talks of ROTD IV have already begun.. We are so grateful to ROTOLOS for sponsoring our race for the 2nd year in a row. The pizza was a BIG hit with the racers and spectators. I overheard conversations the following day from out of towners saying how good the pizza was.. “BRAVO” to you and your whole team. Y’all have been a pleasure to work with.. Our club NOMAMBO will be having our club meeting at your Veterans location this Wednesday, celebrating the success of our race weekend. I can’t wait.. I love the calzones!!!

We could not have had a better evening of racing.. The trail was resurrected from the dead, literally after being under 15′ of water for 2 months.. Our crew worked tirelessly to make this race a reality for this year.. We had participants travel 350 miles to make this race. Vowing to return again next year..

The racers were surprised at this years props throughout the trail.. The “Tunnel of DEATH” was again a big feature as well as the “ZOMBIE walls of hell”. The strobe lights and Sirens that were set off by motion detector devices throughout the trail was enough to scare the bejesus out of any soul..

Overall the race was a huge success, thanks impart to ROTOLOS’ generosity.
